After the field days draw to a close on the afternoon of Saturday, June 16, attention will turn trackside at the Richmond Racecourse grounds where a great afternoon of country racing awaits for the hundreds of field day exhibitors and guests.
Richmond Turf Club president David Fox said for more than 20 years they’ve held, what is their biggest race meeting of the year, in conjunction with the field days.
“With so many field day visitors and exhibitors coming to Richmond from out of town, we always end up with good spectator numbers for the race meeting, and plenty of nominations for the fashions,” Mr Fox said.
With $70,000 plus QTIS bonuses on offer over the five race program, Mr Fox said he’s hopeful of attracting a high quality field of riders and horses from across the state.
“$30,000 alone will be paid out for the Outback Racing Showcase Open Handicap Final 1400m, and each of the other races have prizemoney of $10,000 each.”
He said full bar facilities will be operating during the races, with on-track betting also available for those wishing to have a punt.
Richmond Turf Club secretary Patsy Fox said a great showcase of winter racewear is expected for the Emanate Legal Fashions on the Field competition which will take place between the races.
“Our sponsors have provided us with a great selection of prizes including jewellery and hair salon vouchers, accommodation packages, air fares, and much more, amounting to more than $8000,” Mrs Fox said.
She said the competition will be split into three groups, with Best Dressed Boy and Girl for the Junior and Teen section to be announced after races one and two respectively.
“The winners and runners-up of the Open section will be named after race three, with categories to include Classic Female and Male, Trendsetter, Millinery, and Standout Shoes.
“We invite everyone to stay on after the field days to appreciate and experience country racing, the fashions, and other terrific associated events that will kick on well into Saturday night.”
