A two-car crash on the West Tamar Highway at Exeter has claimed one person’s life. 

Emergency service crews are at the scene of the crash, which Tasmania Police Sergeant Nick Cooper said occurred about five kilometres north of the Exeter township about 4.20pm on Sunday

Traffic is being diverted onto Motor Road and Winkleigh Road. 

“Motorists should avoid the area if possible,” Sergeant Cooper said. 

The West Tamar Highway at Exeter was expected to be closed for some time.
