Jambin-based stud 5 Star Senepol made it a double at Beef Australia 2018, when they claimed the grand champion bull and female accolades.
Geoff and Alison Maynard’s senior champion bull 5 Star L601 (AI) went on to become the grand champion, while 5 Star Williwin Girl was decorated grand champion female.
Judge Ron Pullen, Wyoming Romagnolas, Tedlands, Koumala, praised 5 Star L601 (AI) for his beautiful, open stance.
“I’m still a believer in bone and this bull’s got good structure, good bone, Mr Pullen said.
“To get bone and motility … he’s just technically correct.
“I just like what he’s got to offer.”
Fitter Tania Sainsbury, Biloela, said at 28 months of age, 5 Star L601 (AI) was primed to go out and work.
“He’s very mobile and structurally correct,” she said.
“He has ample but not excessive muscling.”
It was a 16-month-old junior heifer, 5 Star Williwin Girl, who was named grand champion female.
Mr Pullen said 5 Star Williwin Girl’s mobility was second to none.
“She’s a very, very good grand champion female,” he said.
“”She’s in calf, well balanced, has good fleshing and a good topline.”
Ms Sainsbury described 5 Star Williwin Girl as a “very kind-natured heifer”.
“She’s very smooth and structurally correct and has moderate muscling for a heifer.”
