Middlemount Race Club hosted their 30th anniversary, Black Tie Ball on April 28, which was attended by more than 200 people. The special guest speaker of the night was Peter Tighe who is a part owner of the famous race horse, Winx.
Mr Tighe brought with him the 2016 Cox Plate. This proved very popular with patrons on the night as they were able to get their photo taken with a piece of racing history.
Mary Quinn and Alan Acton, who were two of the original members of the Middlemount Race Club when it was formed, were in attendance. Mrs Quinn and Mr Acton, who are both life members of the club, as well as other life members Matt Hite and Bill Gray, were presented with a memento on the night.
A beautiful three course meal was served, and guests were entertained by Brad Butcher and his band. A miniature Cox Plate was commissioned by Peter Tighe and auctioned on the night. This raised $3500 with the proceeds being shared between the Rescue Helicopter and Dolly’s Dream Foundation.
Samara McCarthy, Julia Lambie and Cate Treasure were kept busy organising a glamorous night for attendees.
MC for the night, Clay "Chopper" Jacobsen did an excellent interview with Peter Tighe about the amazing journey he has enjoyed with his race horses and especially the pleasure and excitement that Winx has brought him with her remarkable 25 consecutive wins.
