The 13 members of the WQ DogWatch committee have once again drafted a regional coordinated baiting calendar for the upcoming campaign, that they say will bring about more effective control across the state.
The sequence again keeps a general north to south progression to ensure large time gaps between neighbouring shires baiting is reduced.
Queensland Wild Dog coordinator, Brett Carlsson said it also reduced aircraft ferry times for those shires using aerial deployment of baits.
Boulia, Mungallala, Maranoa, Balonne and McKinlay shires baited in April, and Flinders was set to go this week.
That will be followed by Barcoo (May 7-10), Richmond (May 9-11), Longreach (May 7-11), Winton (May 14-18), and Barcaldine (May 14-18).
In the second half of the month, Murweh is baiting from May 21-23, Blackall-Tambo from May 21-23, Paroo from May 28-31, and Bulloo from May 28-30.
Quilpie shire residents will bait between June 1-10.
Mr Carlsson said that for confirmation of dates and to know the particulars relating to each shire’s program, landholders should contact their local Rural Lands Officer or council office.
