Rapid Legal Solutions offers quality and timely legal assistance to help farmers throughout North Queensland navigate the complex and sometimes confusing legal aspects of buying or selling rural land.
With offices at Charters Towers, Aitkenvale and Kirwan, the team of experienced lawyers are committed to providing legal services to regional areas on a range of agribusiness issues, including succession planning and restructuring of family businesses.
With almost 40 years of combined legal experience, solicitors Wendy Munson and Ross Vecchio enjoy working with rural clients and their families in the company’s Charters Towers office.
Ms Munson emphasised the importance of obtaining the best possible legal advice early in the buying or selling process to ensure a smooth transition.
“A well-drafted and considered contract of sale can help lock away your sale as a vendor, or avoid the expensive purchase of a problem riddled asset as a buyer,” Ms Munson said.
“Between mining leases, contamination issues, native title, land tax, livestock muster or agistment concerns, asbestos registers and land clearing restrictions, there is a lot to consider,” she said.
Ms Munson was born and raised in Charters Towers and has worked in the field of commercial and property law, including estate planning and administration. Ms Munson has also completed a Masters in Taxation and has worked for the Australian Taxation Office.
“Particular care is required to obtain early advice in the case of buyers looking to bid at auction or where vendor finance is involved in a transaction,” she said.
“This ensures adequate security is taken for any finance provided, especially where the vendor is competing in priority with an incoming mortgagee or financing bank.”
Mr Vecchio has extensive experience in litigation, advocacy, commercial law and estate law, and also practises in family and criminal law. He grew up on a sugar cane farm in the Burdekin district and continues to assist his family in running their business.
“It’s important clients can relax and talk to their lawyers because sometimes things get stressful,” Mr Vecchio said.
“We don’t use jargon and wherever possible we work for a fixed price, giving clients financial peace of mind,” he said.
Rapid Legal Solution offers fixed fee initial consultations by telephone, video conference or in person at its three offices.
