Excessive rain and strong winds are expected to lash Queensland's central and northern coastal areas with specialist emergency service crews on the ready.
Specialist personnel were sent to coastal communities between Cairns and Rockhampton on Sunday ahead of the wild weather, a move the Queensland government says will bolster its response.
Ex-tropical cyclone Nora dumped over a metre of rain on the north and far north of the state over the past week, causing widespread flooding.
Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford says rain brought on by ex-tropical cyclone Iris is expected to hit on Monday night.
"We've been hit hard by severe weather events over the past few weeks," he said on Sunday.
"With more heavy rain and strong winds around the corner, I know we will once again see QFES personnel right across Queensland step up to the job."
