Australia’s primary industries have a strong track record in this field which Westpac has supported for more than 200 years.

Sharing knowledge across the industry is vital to maintaining momentum so Westpac is hosting a range of events during Beef Australia 2018 to highlight some of the latest innovation and developments in Australian agriculture and the beef industry.

Pasture and grazing management, beef genetics, alternative lot feeding practices and the operations behind a highly productive stud and organic commercial beef breeding enterprise are a few areas that will be covered in the Westpac Property Tours.

Westpac Agribusiness general manager Steve Hannan, said there is something to suit every schedule, including full and half-day tours, and two platinum tours which provide a great opportunity to fly to some of Central Queensland’s finest properties.

He believes it’s critical for large organisations help to promote and connect farmers across different industries and regions.

“We can all learn from each other and our team has one simple goal - to help make Australian businesses stronger,” Mr Hannan said.

“As we face a global food shortage, Australian agriculture has enormous potential so we’re concentrating on helping farmers to identify market opportunities, survive setbacks, and embrace innovation so that future farming generations can meet the world’s food and fibre demands,” he said.

“Our support of Beef Australia is one of the ways to connect business owners, and share information and advice on how innovation can boost productivity. The tours are also a great opportunity for people from other industries to gain a first-hand look inside the gates of some of Queensland’s largest cattle properties.”

Another initiative to help develop the future of the beef industry is the Graeme Acton Beef Connections program, which matches young beef producers with experienced mentors and the right training and personal development opportunities.

Also on the Westpac agenda is a special Westpac Women’s High Tea, hosted by 2017 AgriFuture Rural Women’s Award National Winner, Tanya Dupagne, with special guest, The Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO.

Ms Dupagne founded Camp Kulin in 2013, and has gained international recognition for her pioneering work in running camps for children and teenagers from regional communities who have faced trauma.
