Weaner steers rose 14c to 23c/kg while most other descriptions held firm to dearer at the March 9 Gracemere sale.

Numbers increased this week with CQLX agents yarding 2100 head on March 9 at Gracemere comprising of 990 steers and bullocks, 625 heifers, 275 cows, 175 cows and calves and 35 bulls and mickies.

Most of the cattle yarded were drawn from Mackay, Nebo, Middlemount and local areas.

Overall this week saw a better line up of quality cattle which reflected on this sale’s prices.

Weaner steers rose 14c to 23c/kg while most other descriptions held firm to dearer.

Slaughter steers made 287.2c to average 264.7c, steers 400-500kg topped 285c to average 273.1c, steers 300-400kg sold to 340.2c to average 300.3c, and steers 200-300kg made 382.2c to average 338.1c.

Meanwhile steers under 200kg made 382.2c to average 355c.

Slaughter weight cows made 226.2c to average 217.6c, cows 400-450kg sold to 220c to average 217.2c, cows 320-400kg made 204.2c to average 184.5c, cows under 320kg sold to 180c to average 171.2c.

Heavy heifers made 290.2c to average 271.9c, heifers 300-400kg sold to 294.2c to average 256.1c, heifers 200-300kg sold to 330.2c to average 286.1c, heifers under 200kg made 336.2c to average 288.9c.

Cows and calves made $1550 per unit to average $1361 per unit.

Bulls over 600kg sold to 256.2c to average 250.3c, bulls 450-600kg made 252.2c to average 250.4c, while bulls under 450kg sold to 274.2c to average 232.9c.

Lyn Graham and Family Wowan sold Charbray steers to 378c weighing 273kg to return $1035.

C Finney & T Anderson Wowan sold Charbray cross steers to 374c the top pen weighed 295kg returning $1086.

Austral Park Pastoral Co Kabra sold Angus Santa cross prime cows to 226c weighing 613kg to return $1386.

W Baker Goovigen sold Droughtmaster heifers to 310c to weigh 278kg returning $857.

PL & Braford & J Hicks Koumala sold Brangus heifers topping 320c to weigh 231kg returning $740.

J Wigginton Midgee sold Droughtmaster heifers to top at 332c weighing 224kg to return $740.

WJ Nalder Collinsville sold 3 decks of Brahman cross cows and calves topping at $1550.
