THE 1054 hectare (2604 acre) Taroom property Two Up has sold at a Landmark Harcourts auction for $4.15 million.
The brigalow block was offered sale on behalf of the Curran family the property.
Bidding opened at $2.8m rose briskly in $50,000 bids and then $25,000 increments before hitting the selling price.Auctioneer Terry Ryanor knocked the property down for the equivalent of $3937/ha ($1594/acre). Two Up is estimated to carry about 450 mixed steers.
The buyers were adjoining neighbours Ben and Amanda Adams, Kingswood, Taroom.
Darryl Langton, Landmark Harcourts, said the property had attracted interest from Goondiwindi, Charleville and Longreach as well as a number of interested parties from the Roma, Taroom and Wandoan districts.
“The sale reflects the demand for quality grazing land from established producers and that buyers are willing to invest strongly in the cattle industry,” Mr Langton said.
In the past about a third of Two Up has been farmed. There is a two bedroom house, workers quarters, shed, and wooden yards. Two Up has a 5km frontage to the Dawson River.
