The recent rain and more widespread falls expected over the coming days along with good competition saw prices generally rise 20-40c/kg across the board at Gracemere on February 23.

Much needed rain in the local and surrounding areas throughout Central Queensland saw a smaller yarding of 900 head penned at the Gracemere prime and store sale on February 23 comprising of 340 steers, 400 heifers, 132 cows, 16 cows and calves and 12 bulls.

The recent rain and more widespread falls expected over the coming days along with good competition saw prices generally rise 20-40c/kg across the board.  

Slaughter steers sold to 251.2c to average 244.9c, steers 400-500kg made 280.2c to average 267.5c, steers 300-400kg topped 338.2c to average 285.6c, steers 200-300kg sold to 386.2c to average 338.2c, steers under 200kg made 344.2c to average 313.9c.

Slaughter cows sold to 233.2c to average 210.7c, cows 400-450kg topped 210c to average 200c, cows 320-400kg made 209c to average 191.4c, cows under 320kg sold to 192.2c to average 177.4c.

Heavy heifers sold to 274.2c to average 266.6c, heifers 300-400kg sold to 312.2c to average 263c, heifers 200-300kg made 312.2c to average 268.4c, heifers under 200kg topped  274.2c to average 259.5c.

Cows and calves made $1550p/unit to average $1367p/unit.

Bulls over 600kg sold to 243.2c to average 232.1c, bulls 450kg-600kg made 232.2c to average 201.2c and bulls under 450kg topped 282.2c to average 261.7c.

Tom and Tracey Symonds Sarina sold Prime Brahman cows to 216c/kg weighing 543kg to return $1174. 

They also sold a line of No.7 Brahman weaner steers to top at 362c/kg average 262kg and returned an average of $903.

Stewart and Sarah Borg of, Markland’s, Sarina, sold No.6 Brahman steers to average 280c/kg weighing 403kg to return $1128.

Charlevue Cattle Co. Dingo sold No.6 Brangus heifers to 276c/kg weighing 390kg to return $1080.

They also sold No.7 steers topping at $1128 and average $980. Mark Radford Mt Ossa, sold No.6 crossbred steers topping at 282c/kg and average 382kg to return $1070.

Creedon Family Middlemount, sold Brahman steers for 318c/kg weighing 346kg returning $1101.

Kao P’Ship Marlborough, sold Brangus weaner steers for 386c/kg weighing 228kg returning $881.

Kelsh Family Giru, sold Brahman heifers for 290c/kg weighing 234kg returning $678.
