Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 549 cattle on February 7 consisting of 335 prime cattle and 214 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 13 bullocks, 13 heifers, 281 cows and 28 bulls.
Store cattle consisted of 107 steers, 66 heifers, 0 cows, 41 cows and calves.
Cattle comprised of smaller lines of mixed quality cattle made up of some quality smaller lots of cows. Reduced numbers were due to local patchy rain. The yarding was drawn from Julia Creek, Bowen, Homestead, Tully, Basalt and local and coastal areas.
Prime quotes:
Bullocks topped at 245.2c/kg from SW Pemble that weighed 605kg to return $1483.
A pen of trade heifers was presented by SW Pemble which made 212c to weigh 393kg and return $832.
The top pen of cows were sold by MS & MM Kingham for 219.2c and weighed 510kg to return $1117.
Bulls from JD & RM Lyons topped at 230c and weighed 640kg to return $1472.

Store cattle were again made up of some mixed quality smaller lines with quality weaners scattered throughout.
A pen of 15 steers from KM Barnicoat made 293c and weighed 282kg, returning an average of $832.
A good pen of 11 heifers from RF Barns made 248c, weighed 217kg and returned an average of $539.
5 x 5 cows and calves from Kera Myers and Peter Whitney returned $1080 per unit.
