PIERCE Carrara lives and breathes cricket.
The 10-year-old from Ingham is proudly representing the North Queensland team at the U12 State Cricket Championships in Rockhampton this week, and he said so far it has been a great trip.
The championships have been running since Monday, with finals to be held tomorrow (Friday).
After taking up cricket four years ago, Pierce plays for Herbert River at home and said there wasn’t much to dislike about the game.
“I like batting, bowling, fielding if they hit it to you, but not when you’re on your own,” he said.
While batting is his favourite, he was the first to admit it hasn’t been his week.
“(I went) pretty bad,” he laughed.
“I got three runs in the first game and three in the second game.”
He said making new friends was the best part about the championships, having only previously played with one person on his team.
All of the teams are being put up at the CQUniversity, which Pierce said was “a lot of fun”.
