After a lengthy hiatus, stud cattle selling will return to Richmond with the Combined Agents Bull Sale being held on the Richmond Turf Club grounds on Friday, June 9 in conjunction with the Richmond Field Days and Races.
Sale co-coordinator Peter Thivakon, Elders Richmond, said the combined agents thought they’d try something new to attract a larger and more diverse crowd to the field days.
“The sale will provide a great opportunity to show what this region is all about; which is the beef industry,” Mr Thivakon said.
He said the sale will feature a catalogue of 53 Brahman, Droughtmaster, Senepol, Romagnola and Santa Gertrudis bulls offered by eight highly regarded vendors.
Vendors include: Rob Flute, Chatfield, Barry Christensen, Koon Kool; Jack Stewart-Moore, Telemon Droughtmasters; Garth and Maureen Power, Powermac Droughtmasters; Rob and Donna Atkinson, Glen Ruth Droughtmaster Stud; Phillip Corlis, Corlis Cattle Co; Ron Pullen Wyoming Romagnolas; and Peter Mahony, Gyranda Santa Gertrudis Stud.
“We’ve got vendors from Richmond and Hughenden as well as several from outside the region, and the sale will be a chance for them to showcase what they’re striving for within their individual operations,” he said.
He said even though rain has been very patchy in the area recently, the bulls drafted for the sale are “uniformly looking good’, and have been “prepared especially for the sale”.
“The sale will feature a good mix of breeds, that are all well suited to this region.”
He said interest in the sale has been high within the town, and he’s hoping it attracts prospective buyers from far and wide.
All bulls will be vet checked and tested prior to the commencement of the sale. For catalogues and for further information please contact the Combined Agents coordinating the sale.
The sale is being coordinated by combined agents from Elders Rural Richmond, Stockplace Marketing, Kennedy Rural and Ray White Rural Richmond.
