Do you have a recipe that is a family favourite? Share it with Burdekin Shite Council and it will be published in a book to celebrate cultural diversity for Harmony Day on March 21.
Burdekin Shire Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said the Burdekin was a community rich in cultural diversity.
“We celebrate our diversity in many ways including the Flavours of the World Festival in July,” she said.
“The Burdekin is home to many cultures – Indigenous, Torres Strait Islander, Italian, Greek, Singaporean, Indian, German, English – to name a few, and what better way to celebrate that melting pot of culture than to put recipes into a book for all to enjoy.
“Our region is known for its spectacular food, so I’m sure there will be some delicious recipes submitted.
“All recipes submitted will be included in the book.
“The recipe book will be available for the cost of a gold coin donation which will be donated to the Burdekin Community Association.”
Residents wishing to be part of the Burdekin Family Cultural Recipe Book should email their favourite family recipe to recipes@burdekin.qld.gov.au by Monday, March 15.
