A REMARKABLE line-up of acts and thousands of attendees will flock to Charters Towers for the McDonald's Country Music Festival for the May Day long weekend.
The 36th festival, from May 3 to 5, will include performances from 2012 ARIA Awards finalist for Best Country Album Catherine Britt, Doug Bruce and the Tailgaters, Jim Haynes, The Wolverines, Grant Kuhrs and the Chook Raffle Band, Larry Cann, and The Anthony Taylor Band.
A talent quest competition and prince and princess charity contest will also keep the crowds entertained.
Contestants will line up to steal the titles off last year's winners, including juvenile winner Liam O'Donoghue, junior winner Judah Kelly and 2012 overall CTCM winner Levena Stewart.
The weekend will also include a street parade and shop displays.
Festival secretary Lyn Verra said the event was shaping up to be on par with recent years, expected to attract crowds numbering in the thousands across the weekend.
"There is certainly interest in campers and people coming to the Towers for the festival it is certainly very good, very promising," she said.
The event promises "something for everyone".
"When all the contestants come together on Sunday night, that's the highlight that's the icing on the cake."
Ms Verra said most of the attendees were from out of town, bringing in a large amount of business and interest to the small town.
Camping facilities at the showgrounds are available to accommodate the influx of people in Charters Towers.
The festival will be held at the Charters Towers Showgrounds.
