THE EKKA beckons to those volunteers who are keen to wear an apron and give their time to the QCWA food stall from August 8-18, 2013 in Brisbane.
State President Jennie Hill called on volunteers to help with supporting the Queensland Country Women’s Association’s EKKA food stall during this 10 day period.
“We’re looking for people to do a four hour shift, to make, serve or take orders for freshly made hamburgers and sandwiches,” Mrs Hill said.
“Men are welcome as they are usually the best cooks when it comes to BBQs,” she said.
“Also I anticipate that our much sort after scones, jam and fresh cream will exceed all expectations.
“Our melting moments even received rave reviews from the twin judges off Junior Masterchef.
“It helps if you are a dab hand in the kitchen.”
Mrs Hill said the QCWA was grateful to Macca from Australia All Over for supporting the call for community volunteers.
“Macca and his team have been very supportive of the QCWA’s community work,” she said.
“Earlier this year, when our QCWA Pioneer Branch President, Mrs Menzie contacted him about the gumboot concert fundraiser, he has been very generous with his time.
“Since hearing him on the radio with our QCWA Catering Committee member, Sylvia Raper it sounds like he is willing to don an apron for the benefit of the community.”
Mrs Hill encouraged those able to give their time to contact Mrs Sylvia Raper on (07)5495 5151 or email sylvia@ajrmail.com, or Mrs Mary Martyn, who was co-ordinating the EKKA food stall roster on mary.martyn@optus.net.au
