AN informative and productive day was enjoyed by growers and industry representatives at the Cane 2 U free grower information day held at the Ayr Showgrounds on March 21.
A crowd of close to 200 cane growers and others involved in the industry heard from some well-respected industry professionals regarding the state of the cane industry in the Burdekin region, how to maximise farm profitability, growth and yield, and how to effectively employ best management practices.
Information Day coordinator Jason Rickert said the day had been a great success and that the crowd responded very well to the speaker’s topics.
“The questions the people in the crowd asked really showed the level of passion and depth of involvement they have for their enterprises at the Burdekin cane industry as a whole,” Mr Rickert said.
“I’d especially like to thank John Deambrosis and his team at Burdekin Productivity Services for the great lengths they went to in helping to organise the event,” he said.
A detailed review of the Cane 2 U information day will be included in the North Queensland Register March 28 edition.
