THE stage is set for a great weekend of campdrafting action at Landers Creek Station near Home Hill Campdraft on September 14-15 for the 2013 Home Hill Campdraft.
Events commence at 6am on Saturday, September 14 with the Steel Supplies Charters Towers Maiden Campdraft, ‘Old’ Bill Tudehope Memorial Open Campdraft, Macquarrie Truck Corporation Juvenile Campdraft (ages 13-17), Griggs Haulage Junior Campdraft (ages 8-12) and the Coolgarra Contracting Encouragment Campdraft (ages 17 and over).
On Sunday, September 15, the draft action will recommence again at 6am with the Humphrey Heatley Memorial Novice Campdraft, BAE Engineering & Solar Restricted Open Campdraft and the Greg Hoare Memorial Ladies Campdraft.
Committee member John Woodward said he expects nominations to fill up very quickly when entries open on September 2.
“We normally share the weekend with several other campdrafts around the state, but it’s just this year so we expect nominations to flow thick and fast,” Mr Woodward said.
Saturday night will feature loads of entertainment including a lolly drop for the kids, tug of war with $500 up for grabs, an auction with horse sports gear, holidays and tools going under the hammer, together with an in-house DJ keeping the crowd excited.
Free camping sites with shower, toilet and hot water amenities are available for those wishing to stay for both days of the event.
Proceeds taken at the bar will be donated to Millaroo State School.
Cattle for the campdraft events will be supplied from Inkerman and Landers Creek Station.
Some changes are afoot for next year’s event; Mr Woodward said the 2014 campdraft will be held sometime in April or May ‘because the weather is a bit kinder at that time of year’.
The committee would like to thanks their sponsors including but not limited to: Kelly Forster Helicopters, Coolgarra Contracting, Steel Supplies Charters Towers, Evolution Mining, Zunker Welding, BAE Engineering, Burdekin Industrial Hire, Wilma Sugar, Macquarrie Truck Corporation, Blakey Welding, Burdekin Abrasive Blasting, Heatley Family, Donohues & BeeMart and Griggs Haulage.
