THE PBR success train keeps rolling along and it was Innisfail’s turn to host the latest night of fantastic bull riding action last Saturday.
A crowd in excess of 2000 rodeo enthusiasts proved that that Troy Dunn’s concept of establishing successful Professional Bull Riders circuit throughout Australia was certainly a correct one.
Last Saturday, September 14, the huge, North Queensland crowd witnessed a night of highs and lows as the nation’s best bull riders went head to head against the power of Brandenburg, Power and Coban bucking bulls.
The long round of the competition delivered 14 scoring rides with NSW bull rider, Cody Heffernan delivering an event high marked ride with 88 points aboard the Coban owned, Toy Tiger.
Held at the Brother’s League Club Calendar Park oval, the Innisfail crowd were pumped for the final and deciding Championship Round where the top ten riders faced off against aboard some of the roughest bulls in the country.
In the end the result would be a tie for first place between bull riding young guns and rising PBR stars, Matt Boland and Kurt Shephard.
This is the second year the PBR have held a National Heat in Innisfail and with the size and enthusiasm of the crowd demonstrated on both occasions extraordinary, Far North Queenslanders can look forward for more to come.

3rd: Cody Heffernan – 166.5 points
4th: Guy Ford – 166 points
5th: Ben Seeds – 163.5 points
6th: Ryan Dickens – 161 points
