AUSTRALIA’S livestock export industry is preparing to host what is set to be a hugely successful first national conference in Townsville in October.
Australian Livestock Exporters’ Council (ALEC) chair Peter Kane said the LIVEXchange 2013 Conference will provide an opportunity for up to 300 industry experts and stakeholders from across the supply chain to come together to address key issues and challenges for the industry.
"The aim of the Conference is to showcase the livestock export sector as a professional and legitimate industry, delivering jobs, prosperity and growth to Australia,” Mr Kane said.
“Interest has already been high because the topical conference themes we have identified revolve around industry change and the exchange of ideas,” he said.
LIVEXchange themes include: the livestock export outlook, trade and market opportunities, research development and extension – priority projects and future plans, animal welfare improvements and community standing and understanding.
Justin Slaughter, chairman of LIVEXchange 2013’s host chapter, the Queensland Livestock Exporters’ Association, urged people to purchase tickets to the event by the end of the month to go into the draw to win the early bird registration prize and avoid disappointment.
“Thanks to Fairfax Media, we have a fantastic prize to give away to one lucky delegate, but they must purchase their tickets before the end of the month,” Mr Slaughter said.
“The ‘early bird’ registration prize consists of a 12 month subscription to Queensland Country Life and North Queensland Register and a pair of RM Williams boots,” he said.
“We are extremely grateful to Fairfax Media and all of our sponsors for their support of this historic inaugural conference.”
The conference’s major sponsors are Fairfax Media, MLA, Landmark, NAB Agricultural, IDEXX and Coopers with additional support from Waratah, Wilangi, Virbac, Elders, Zee Tags, QLEA, Ruralco, Roebuck Export Yard, Qld Rural, Territory Rural, OAMPS, AACO, Austrex and Livestock Express.
LIVEXchange 2013 will be held at Jupiter’s Casino in Townsville from Wednesday, October, 30 to Friday, November 1, 2013.
