AS a barely literate youth of 13, Sir Sidney Kidman ran away from home to work as an odd-job boy in a grog shanty in outback Australia. He went on to become the greatest pastoral landholder in modern history.
Kidman: the Extraordinary Life of Sir Sidney Kidman not only documents the extraordinary life and times of Sidney Kidman, but also offers the reader over 500 pages of never-before-seen photographs and original documents.
And, as a Register reader, you have the chance to win yourselves a copy.
The North Queensland Register has one copy of the newly published Kidman biography to give away to one of our readers.
Simply send in your best social photo from a cattle sale or rural function, suitable for our back page, to be in the running to win a copy of the hardcover book.
Photographs received will be judged on how well they capture the spirit and character of Australian outback legends, as a tribute to Sir Kidman himself.
Entries close on Thursday December 5 with the winning photograph announced on Thursday December 12.
