With a decrease in numbers by 340 head, just over 870 head were penned at Emerald on Thursday. A cheaper market was quoted across all categories with slaughter cow types seeing the biggest decline. A mixed quality yarding was evident with limited lines of store cattle on offer.
Bullocks 500kg and over were too few to reliably quote, with 400-500kg steers making to 263c to average 236c, 350-400kg steers reached 301c to average 237c, 280-350kg steers topped at 299c to average 272c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 299c to average 236c.
Heavy heifers over 400kg made to 235c to average 218c, with heifers 350-400kg making to 200c to average 170c, heifers 280-350kg topped at 242c to average 191c, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 230c to average 195c.
Cows over 520kg topped at 180c to average 170c, while cows 450-520kg reached 198c to average 165c. Only one cow and calf on offer made to $450/unit.
