With the past two sales being cancelled due to lack of numbers, Emerald agents yarded just under 1350 head on Thursday. A mixed quality lineup with the exception of a couple better lines of weaner cattle was evident with prices for the better end of the weaner and feeder market increasing.
Heavy steers over 500kg were too few to reliably quote, while steers in the 400-500kg range made to 285c to average 276c, with steers 350-400kg making to 280c to average 272c, steers 280-350kg made to 335c to average 284c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 340c to average 303c.
Heavy heifers over 400kg made to 256c to average 239c, with heifers 350-400kg making to 255c to average 236c, heifers 280-350kg topped at 238c to average 217c, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 226c to average 200c. Cows over 520kg made to 221c to average 205c, while cows 450-520kg topped at 220c to average 202c. No cows and calves were penned.

The Christian family, Karallen, Springsure sold Droughtmaster steers to 284c to weigh 269kg or $765. The Daniels family, Theresa Downs, Emerald sold Euro cross steers to 266c to weigh 362kg or $964. Don and Kay Gordon, Burn Meadows, Emerald sold Brangus heifers to 227c to weigh 401kg or $912. Charlie and Margaret Prince, Janibee, Capella sold Droughtmaster cows to 205c to weigh 515kg or $1056.
