The north west is bracing for the possibility of another flood event.
The Bureau of Meteorology says there is a chance of a cyclone hitting Burketown on Sunday.
Much of the gulf country is still submerged in flood water.
Burke Shire mayor Ernie Camp said the community is preparing for more wild weather.
“This one [cyclone] looks like it is for real,” Cr Camp said.
“In the past, these events have been made out to be bigger than Ben-Hur and nothing much has happened.
“But this time we are taking it very seriously, we have been receiving more information than we have for other events,” he said.
“Now the concern is that people will be complacent. It is like the boy who cried wolf.”

A tropical low around 300km north of Nhulunbuy is expected to develop into a cyclone sometime on Friday.
The Bureau of Meteorology said the low is moving steadily in a westward direction, and is expected to turn towards the south east during Thursday.
It is then predicted to strengthen into a category two cyclone as it tracks into the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Conditions suggest the system could develop into a severe tropical cyclone early next week, as it spins into the Gulf of Carpentaria.
