The largest yarding so far this year at Gracemere saw CQLX agents pen 3698 head comprised of 1921 steers and bullocks, 1196 heifers, 376 cows, 152 cows and calves and 53 bulls/mickies.
Cattle were drawn from Blackwater, Clermont, Moranbah, Mackay and as far south as Miriam Vale and most areas in between.
A good panel of buyers managed to keep prices firm to dearer on most descriptions however the weaner section eased slightly on last week’s high rates.
Slaughter steers sold to 278.2c, average 268.7c, steers 400-500kg made 294.2c, average 280.1c, steers 300-400kg reached 360.2c, average 296.9c, steers 200-300kg made 398.2c, average 335.1c and steers under 200kg sold to 374.2c, average 335.3c.
Slaughter cows sold to 271.2c, average 225.7c, cows 400-450kg made 267.2c, average 210.6c, cows 320-400kg reached 220c, average 180c, and cows under 320kg made 192.2c, average 168.5c.
Heavy heifers sold to 269.2c, average 252.4c, heifers 300-400kg made 306.2c, average 253.1c, heifers 200-300kg reached 316.2c, average 276.2c, and heifers under 200kg made 310.2c, average 278.2c.
Cows and calves sold to $1700/unit, average $1400/unit.
Bulls over 600kg made 259.2c, average 243.9c, bulls 450-600kg reached 262.2c, average 251.8c and bulls under 450kg sold to 308.2c, average 277.8c.
