GOOD things come in small packages.
Touted as one of the most innovative telehandlers in the world, the 516-40 will now be available to Australian farms and businesses courtesy of JCB Construction Equipment Australia.
JCB, national product manager telehandlers, Anthony Lockwood said the machine is extremely versatile due to its compact build.
“This small telehandler achieves its extraordinary versatility because of JCB’s revolutionary offset single-spine chassis,” he said.
The machine is ideal for all applications where a compact machine is needed, from small scale farming, to construction and hire and rental

“Core strength of the machine is under the boom, while the chassis wraps around the cab, meaning the cab can be mounted lower than normal”
Mr Lockwood said this resulted in improved manoeuvrability and easier safer cab access.
“Another plus is that we haven’t had to reduce the cab size or performance to achieve these benefits for the operator,” he said.
Mr Lockwood said the 516-40 features as tier three compliant JCB diesel engine by Kohler, which produced 130 Newton metres torque at 1600 revolutions per minute.
“For ultimate traction in soft muddy areas, the 516-40 comes equipped with four-wheel- drive as standard,” he said.
“While a wide range of tyre options helps operators to work in many different environments.”
Mr Lockwood said the machine was capable of lifting 1600 kilograms throughout the lift arc of the boom, up to a full height of 4m.
“There is also a 1000kg lift capacity at 2m forward reach, making it easy and safe to load or unload trucks of brick or other heavy, packed materials,” he said.
“The machine is ideal for all applications where a compact machine is needed, from small scale farming, to construction and hire and rental.
“The 516-40 can work anywhere.”
