THE editorship of Queensland Country Life and the North Queensland Register has shifted from Roma in the state’s west to Toowoomba.
From this week, outgoing editor Penelope Arthur will relinquish the reins of the two mastheads to Melody Labinsky.
Originally hailing from her family’s cropping enterprise at Jondaryan on the Darling Downs, Ms Labinsky joined Queensland Country Life in 2012.
For the past three years she has been the digital news specialist for Fairfax Media’s Queensland/Northern Territory group, responsible for shaping several news websites across the state, including QCL and NQR, plus the Katherine Times, the North West Star in Mount Isa and Beaudesert Times in South East Queensland.
Ms Arthur, who became QCL and NQR’s first female editor in 2015, is moving to a new role within the company as National Agricultural News Editor. She will remain based in Roma, while developing farmonline.com.au and leading a team of agricultural commodity writers in a footprint comprising Queensland, NSW, the ACT and Victoria.
