Roads were inundated, parks became lakes and tinnies were a preferred mode of transport for chicken farm workers when Townsville was lashed with heavy rain on Wednesday.
The wet weather was welcomed across the parched city, with many locals getting out to make the most of it.
Burdekin MP Dale Last waded to his house in Alligator Creek, while fishers tried their luck at Aplin’s Weir.
The seriousness of the weather event has not been forgotten however, with council offering free sand and bags to residents.
Motorists were reminded to keep clear of floodwater and to listen to local radio to keep up with the latest warnings.
