Entries are now open for this year’s Callide Dawson Beef Carcase Competition.
But, you have to be quick with grainfed entries closing this Friday February 16 with feedlot delivery on March 1.
Grainfed trade cattle will be processed on May 21 as part of the competition, while grainfed heavy steers who are being fed 100 days will be processed on June 11.
There will also be a field day held on Friday May 25 at Warnoah Feedlot at Theodore.
Competition organiser Mike Bradshaw said trade class seven can be three heifers or three steers in a pen class, while single class eight also can be nominated for both sexes.
“lf there are big nomination numbers like last year, the heifers and steers will be judged in separate classes,” Mr Bradshaw said.
Trade class seven and eight must be HGP free.
“Two printing errors on the nomination forms for class eight should have read steer/heifer and delivery date to Warnoah Feedlot at Theodore by March 1,” he said.
“We are hoping for a big year because were celebrating 30 years and we will pass 10,000 carcases being judged, plus raising $200,000 for our local show and sporting committees.”
Biloela Civic Centre has been booked for dinner on Friday July 6 for the events 30th anniversary celebrations.
“It’s a good opportunity for first time exhibitors given Beef 2018 will consume some excellent lines of cattle,” Mr Bradshaw said. For more information call Mike 0428 981 213.
