Queensland’s Drummondslope Camp & Work Horses ensured our nation’s best stock horse genetics stayed in our State with their purchase of Dalby sale’s top priced mare.
Drummondslope’s Andy and Angela Mulcahy, Alpha were winning bidders on six-year-old ASH mare, Oneofakind Dixie Chic, who sold for $54,000 at Ray White Equine Dalby Australian Stock Horse Sale on Saturday night.
The Mulcahy family are no strangers to the prestigious ASH sale after purchasing second top priced seven-year-old mare, Haymac Georgie Girl, for $46,000 during last year’s event.
“I bought Gatton UQ Destiny (Marine) at the 2016 sale for $26,000 and the mare ran second in this year’s Dalby ASH sale (six years and over) draft,” Andy Mulcahy said.
Dixie Chic’s breeding pedigree caught the eye Mr Mulcahy during stock horse sale inspections with the mare by impact sire Acres Destiny bloodlines and from Chickery, a daughter of heritage sire Warrenbri Benson.
Proud vendors of the top priced mare were Kerrie Thomson and Zane Habermann, Mostly Hills, Springsure who the Malcahy family also purchased a stallion, Oneofakind Smokey, three years ago.
“I know the Oneofakind horses and they perform very well for us,” Mr Mulcahy said.
And performance is what Andy Mulcahy needs having competed in 26 campdrafts throughout 2017. The Oneofakind Dixie Chic mare will now join the Mulcahy family’s campdraft team of horses during next year’s drafting circuit.
“Let’s see how the mare goes campdrafting and I could look at getting some embryos from her or breeding her to a stallion when the time is right in the future,” Mr Mulcahy said.
Oneofakind Horse Stud co-owner Kerrie Thomson said the Dixie Chic mare has always been easy to handle and train.
“She has been drafted for the past two years and placed at numerous campdrafts with scores of up to 91,” Ms Thomson said.
