Townsville journalist Jessica Johnston has joined the North Queensland Register.
Ms Johnston has spent the past 13 years working as a journalist with News Corp Australia, predominantly at the Townsville Bulletin where she held numerous roles including news editor and chief of staff.
Based in the NQR office in Townsville, Ms Johnston said she was looking forward to exploring more of North Queensland, including its unique rural communities, in her new role.
“I am a passionate advocate for our regional and rural communities in North Queensland and am keenly aware of the unique issues facing the region,” Ms Johnston said.
“I am passionate about fighting for a fair go for the regions and am excited to join the NQR team.”
NQR editor, Penelope Arthur, said it was exciting to have a journalist of Ms Johnston’s calibre join the team.
“With so much happening in many industries and communities across Northern Australia, it’s vital that we have skilled journalists that can continue to tell the stories unique to our region,” she said.
“Jess has lived and worked in North Queensland for the past 13 years and we’re delighted to have her join our editorial team.”
