Age of Dinosaurs Museum among 11 outback awards nominees

There are more 160 nominations in this year’s awards, hosted by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council.

Winton’s Dinosaurs Museum is a nominee in the hotly contended Major Tourist Attraction category. 

The cutting-edge science institution and major tourist attraction received more than 28,000 visitors in the 2016-17 financial year.

Business Development Manager Naomi Miles said the museum has the largest collection of Australia’s biggest dinosaur fossils in the world, and the most productive fossil preparation laboratory in the southern hemisphere.

“In 2017 the museum opened its latest tour attraction Dinosaur Canyon, featuring five outdoor galleries with life-sized bronze dinosaurs,” Ms Miles said.

“This innovative tour addition enables the museum to continue to promote the discovery, research and education of Australia’s unique prehistory as well as encouraging sustainable economic drive to the outback.”

Gold, Silver and Bronze winners from the 28 Queensland Tourism Awards categories, along with the new RACQ People’s Choice Award, will be announced on Friday, November 10 at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
