DEMAND for green energy is transforming sugar industry and MSF Sugar that is leading the transition in Queensland.
MSF Sugar chief executive officer Mike Barry, and business development general manager Hywel Cook will share their vision of a modern, integrated sugarcane business and what this means for the state during their address to the Rural Press Club in Brisbane on October 26.
MSF Sugar is already delivering on plans for their green energy power plant at the Tableland Mill on the Atherton Tableland, and recently announced plans to construct a biorefinery at the mill in the next five years.
The sugar industry says it has the potential to make all of the products currently being produced from coal.
Once operational, MSF Sugar says the resulting biofutures precinct will be a world first initiative that will enable the company to produce sugar, green baseload electricity and ethanol from one location, with all three products manufactured through the effective and efficient use of biomass materials grown locally on the Atherton Tableland.
And that’s just the start. Through MSF Sugar’s Biorefinery Project, the sugar industry says it has the potential to make all of the products currently being produced from coal. Attending this lunch will give you an insight into this significant transition and what this means for the future of the industry.
