The overall market at Gracemere cattle sale on September 8 was firm to dearer on last week’s rates.

A yarding of 2238 head were presented at Gracemere on September 8 comprising of 909 steers, 853 heifers, 413 cows, 49 x 49 cows and calves and 14 bulls.  

Cattle were drawn from Collinsville and Bowen in the North, Miriam Vale in the south and local areas in between.

Meatworks market held firm to dearer with good quality lines of store cattle meeting with strong competition across all descriptions the overall market was firm to dearer on last week’s rates.

Slaughter steers  made 276.2c/kg to average 260.2c, steers 400-500kg topped 284.2c to average 273.4c, steers 300-400kg sold to 332.2c to average 293.8c and those 200-300kg made 374.2c to average 339.5c.

Meanwhile weaner weight steers under 200kg topped 366.2c to average 346.2c.

Slaughter cows sold to 232.2c to average 201.1c, cows 400-450kg made 238.2c to average 191.9c, cows 320-400kg topped 236.2c to average 182.9c.

Heavy heifers made 276.2c to average 263.3c, heifers 300-400kg sold to 326.2c to average 259.5c, and heifers in the 200-300kg weight range topped 308.2c to average 269.4c, while those under 200kg made 310.2c to average 277.3c.

Cows and calves sold to $1300 to average $1150.

Bulls over 600kg topped 223.2c to average 209.2c, bulls 450kg-600kg sold to 395.2c to average 222.3c, while those under 450kg sold to 338.2c to average 280.8c.

Bill and Carol Wiper, Collinsville, sold Charbray weaner steers topping at 330c weighing 294kg to return $952.

RB Yensch, Bowen, sold Brangus weaner steers for 354c weighing 250kg to return $885.

Edmond Jones, Dalma, sold cross bred weaner steers to top at 356c weighing 207kg to return $738.

Murry and Marcia Miller, Midgee, sold Limousin cross heifers to a top of 276c weighing 460kg to return $1270.

Frank Ellrott Nankin, sold Droughtmaster cross weaner steers for 364c weighing 203kg to return $739.

Len Williams and Christine Searle, Donniedoo, Bowen, sold Grey Brahman weaner heifers topping at 296c weighing 221kg to average $630.

V&B Roberts, Nagoorin, sold Droughtmaster cows and calves for $1200p/unit.
