TWO new regional engagement officers based in Dalby and Roma will represent the GasFields Commission on the ground in the Surat Basin.
Katrina Macdonald is a Roma local and brings a solid background in rural landholder liaison, agribusiness and the resources industry to her new role with GasFields.
Jane Walker was born in Dalby and has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, communications and project management with both the gas and rural industries.
The commission has made regional engagement its number one priority and all commission staff are now equipped to be fully mobile and responsive to community needs.
GasFields Commission chair Ruth Wade believes the two new regional engagement officers will make an enormous contribution to the functions of the commission.
“Having Jane and Katrina out there in the gas fields, fully mobile, talking to people and engaging directly will make a huge difference to the commission’s ability to respond to issues effectively and quickly”, Ms Wade said.
“The Scott review of the GasFields Commission recommended a greater focus on regional engagement and we’re very pleased to be able to deliver on that recommendation by putting our people right where they’re needed.
“Jane and Katrina are both born and bred locals and will bring a wealth of local knowledge to the commission team and the issues faced in their areas.”
A greater focus on regional engagement, extension and communications was a key recommendation from the Scott review into the functions of the commission.
