PETA Adams’ Mitchell property Gruidae has sold well above its reserve for $790,000 at a Ray White Rural auction in Roma today.
Located 12km west of Mitchell on the Warrego Highway, the 395 hectare (976 acre) property sold to a local grazier. About 40 people attended the auction which started at $300,000. Eight parties registered to bid, with six parties active.
The sale price is equivalent to about $2000/ha ($809/acre).
Gruidae has both buffel and natural grass pastures. The country consists of undulating red loam to self-mulching heavy black soil country timbered with bottle tree, kurrajong, brigalow, wilga and areas of box and sandalwood regrowth. There are scattered trees across the property, which is about 95 per cent white on the vegetation map.
The property has seven paddocks. Water is supplied by three dams and a share bore. Improvements include a The seven bedroom homestead and a set of cattle yards.
