Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2508 cattle at Dalrymple Saleyards on July 5, consisting of 1306 prime cattle and 1202 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 222 bullocks, 87 heifers, 913 cows and 84 bulls while the store cattle consisted of 703 steers, 452 heifers and 47x47 cows and calves.
Cattle comprised of mixed quality bullocks and steers along with some good well-finished cows with the majority of cows presented in store condition.
The yarding was drawn from Normanton, Croydon, Georgetown, Atherton Tablelands, Collinsville, Torrens Creek, Prairie, and local and coastal areas.
Bullocks were quoted unchanged, heifers were 5-10c easier and cows were 5-10c easier on last week’s rates.
The prime quotes saw bullocks on account of EA Griffiths, Charters Towers, sold to a top of 264c/kg to average 510kg and return $1347 per head.
Heavy feeders topped at 270c/kg, sold on behalf of RB and JS Jones, Ewan Hills, Hidden Valley, that weighed 419kg to return $1133 per head.
Best priced trade heifers were presented on account of Gracedale Pastoral Co, Gracedale, Richmond, which made 258c/kg to weigh 510kg and return $1316 per head.
The top pen of cows were sold by D Jackson & Sons, Myola Station, Charters Towers, for 213/kg and weighed 581kg to return $1239 per head.
Bulls sold on behalf of LT & CP Curley, Sutherland Holding, Georgetown, topped at 251c/kg and weighed 610kg to return $1532 per head.
Store cattle were some good lines of No.6 Steers and some good lines of weaner heifers that met with fairly strong competition.
A pen of 21 steers on account of BA & LE Corbett, Hyde Park Station, Charters Towers, made 400c/kg and weighed 150kg and realised $598 per head.
A good pen of 21 heifers sold on account of Kevin Hoolihan, Gum Flats Station, Einasleigh, made 282c/kg, weighed 225kg and returned a good average of $634 per head.
A line of 185 crossbred store cows on account of D & K Louke, Lignum Station, Belyando, made 215c/kg to average 325kg and returned $698 per head.
Cows and calves sold on behalf of BW & MI Landsberg, Homeview, Charters Towers, returned $1500 per unit.
The next prime and store sale is booked for Wednesday July 12.
