From Monday, July 17, Southern Cross Austereo, in conjunction with its affiliate partner, the Nine Network, will broadcast a dedicated one-hour Nine News North Qld bulletin to local residents.
The North Qld bulletin is second of seven bulletins to be rolled out across the state in the coming months.
Presented by Queensland’s Samantha Heathwood, the bulletins will be broadcast at 6.00pm each week night, drawing stories from Townsville, Ingham, Charters Towers and the Burdekin district.
Paul Taylor will present a dedicated sports report for the region, while Nicole Rowles will provide residents with a fully localised weather report.
Grant Blackley, Chief Executive Officer of Southern Cross Austereo, said the north Qld reporters would live in the regions.
“We are pleased that this partnership has been able to create jobs within local Queensland communities,” he said.
“Having local reporters who live in the regions means we can bring the best local stories to air, and provide our clients and businesses with new opportunities to reach their customers.”
