TWO fertile grazing properties in the spectacular Scenic Rim region remain on the market after being put to auction by Ray White Rural this morning.
Negotiations are continuing on Laguna, which was passed in for $1.11 million, and Elysa, which was passed in for $391,000.
The properties are being sold to enable the Morrison family to purchase a larger commercial cattle property. Both farms are located at Warrill View, a quiet farming community about 60 minutes from the Brisbane CBD.
Laguna is a 115 hectare (283 acre) property consistently carrying 75 breeders and progeny. About 80 per cent of the country is gentle, undulating grazing country ideal for breeding and backgrounding cattle. The balance has iron bark and river gum trees to provide ideal shade.
The delightful one bedroom cottage (circa 1895) was a former stockman’s cottage for the nearby Normanby Homestead. Built from local timbers, the cottage was renovated in 2010 and has 140m2 under roof. The original tin roof was in excellent condition and was purposely kept for effect.
The other structural improvements are mostly new and include a 21mx9m machinery shed and cattle yards. There are four dams including a 10ML dam providing irrigation to the horse paddock and extensive gardens.
Elysa covers 40ha (100 acres) and would make an ideal weekend getaway or a home with an easy commute to Brisbane. About 60 per cent of the country is open grazing with the remainder lightly shaded by native ironbark. The property, which carries 30 breeders and their progeny, is divided into six paddocks.
