AUSTRALIA’s largest property group, Ray White, enters the equine sector this week with its appointment to the largest Australian Stock Horse Sale in the nation: Dalby.
Ray White Rural and Livestock chairman Paul White said it was a natural evolution for their growing network of agencies across rural Australia.
“Horses have long been important for stock management in Australia, and this sale is a fitting step in our rural sales activities,” Mr White said.
The annual calendar of Ray White Equine events will involve the Dalby Stock Horse Sale (run by Ray White Rural Dalby), the Epic Horse Sale (run by Ray White Rural Kempsey) and a Gracemere sale (run by Ray White Rural Gracemere).
“Many people don’t know that Ray White, my grandfather, first opened his store in 1902 on the Darling Downs: auctioning livestock, horses, machinery, and farms in a shed beside a railway line in the rural town of Crows Nest,” Mr White said. “In a way, we’ve come full circle.”
“Many of our members are keen campdrafters, stock horse competitors and equine enthusiasts. The energy around this is palpable.
“We are proud to have been appointed by the Darling Downs branch of the Australian Stock Horse Society to be their selling agent for the famed Dalby Stock Horse Sale.”
Darling Downs branch of the Australian Stock Horse Society president Jim Ryan said the event, in its 43rd year, has long had a clear objective. His ethos for the sale has always been about the personal touch not the commercial outcome.
“This is an event where there’s a horse for everyone: it’s about bringing working horses to working people,” Mr Ryan said.
The event begins on December 1 with an incentive campdraft and challenge followed by sales on December 2-3.
