THE 90,600 hectare (223,000 acre) Cape York Peninsula property Crystal Vale Station sold under hammer for $1.35 million at a Ray White Rural auction in Brisbane today.
Located 40km south of Coen, the property has 12 main paddocks and National Park boundary fencing. There is about 32,000ha behind new fencing.
The buyer was the Byrnes family, represented by Darcy Byrnes. The Byrnes are well known in the Far North Queensland meat industry through Byrnes Quality Meats and as the operators of the Tolga abattoir. The family also owns country adjoining Crystal Vale.
Crystal Vale has 18 dams, five bores, some springs, and a frontage to Station Creek.
Other improvements include an open plan dwelling, three sheds, main cattle yards near the homestead, additional smaller trucking yards and 130-plus portable panels plus two portable loading ramps.
Some 700 mixed cattle included were included in the sale.
