PRIMARY producers were awarded at last night’s annual Beef Dinner, held as part of the three-day Clermont Show extravaganza.
Mac and Gayle Shann, Cantaur Park, took out the 2017 SA Burnett Memorial ‘Walking Home’ Bronze Trophy for Most Successful Exhibitor in the Beef and Commercial Divisions, while Steve and Lizzie Burnett, Monteagle, received the Grand Champion Exhibit in the Beef Division.
Prior to the Beef Dinner, show patrons were treated to some of Isaac’s finest paddock to plate produce at the Cattlemen’s Challenge Taste Test Competition; a tribute to the region’s multi-million dollar beef industry.
Local Clermont Councillor Lyn Jones said the dinner was a much-anticipated highlight during the show’s festivities.
“Cattle producers in Isaac contribute $212 million a year to the beef industry, with agriculture the largest number of registered businesses in the district,” she said.
“It’s great to recognise these hardworking producers who really are the backbone of our local economy.”
Held over three days from Monday May 29 to Wednesday May 31, the Clermont Show’s various industry competitions, taste testing and cattle sales put the region’s meat and livestock industry on show.
