The overall package offered by young Brangus heifer, Moola Georgia, won Anakie’s Bruce and Sandy Ryan the supreme ribbon in the stud cattle competition at Alpha last week.
She was one of 40 entries in the show, from six studs – Forest Hill Brangus at Capella, Banyula Braford at Capella, Lunar Brangus at Emerald, Crinum Brahman at Tieri, and Minnamurra Limousins at Springsure were the others.
Theodore judge, Jack Walker, praised the tremendous amount of condition carried by the 13-month-old when awarding her firstly the junior champion female ribbon.
When it came to putting her up against the senior champion female, Minnamurra Jessica’s Rainbow, Mr Walker said he had seen enough to be confident that Georgia would go on to be a good matron.
Terry Randell’s Crinum T Santana, was sashed as senior champion and then grand champion bull of the show.
The 24-month Brahman bull weighed 844kg and the judge said there was no guesswork involved.
“It came down to the amount of bone he was carrying. He’s all there,” he said.
Minnamurra Midnight, the Limousin entry from Greg and Suzie Walters, came from the 12 month and under 15 month class to take out the junior champion bull sash.
The judge said he had been very hard to fault.
“His thickness behind the shoulder carried across the topline, and he has a definite place in our industry,” he said.
