North Queensland cattle producers had the chance to see the industry in a new light at a Steak Your Place Forum held in Charters Towers on May 25.
Hosted by local producer of Caerphilly Station, Emma Robinson, and supported by RaboBank, the information day offered an insight to more business opportunities within agriculture.
Discussing consumer trends, new innovations, technologies and sustainability, attendees were required to think beyond simply selling cattle for opportunities that could benefit the survival of their business.
Ms Robinson said it was a great day for producers.
“They have been stimulated and challenged by the presentations and received a lot of information from them,” she said
“I think producers are focused on production but really appreciate the opportunity to hear ideas and thinking beyond the farm gate about consumers and technology and innovation within the supply chain.
“There was a good mixed group of ages, with a lot of young producers getting engaged in beef and looking at the opportunities that are available.
“I have received a lot of positive feedback with people asking me if I would host it again. As great as today has been I am unsure of what the future holds.”
Ms Robinson wanted to thank all the sponsors who supported the day.
