A yarding of 1160 head were presented at Gracemere on Friday, May 19. Comprising of 590 steers, 320 heifers, 220 cows, 5x5 cows and calves and 25 bulls. Numbers declined due to wet weather conditions however most sectors of the market improved considerably.
Slaughter steers sold to 304c/kg to average 289c, steers 400-500kg made 320c to average 304c, steers 300-400kg topped 340c to average 307c, steers 200-300kg made 388c to average 348c, while those under 200kg sold to 414c to average 379c.
Slaughter cows sold to 238c to average 224c and cows 400-450kg made 244c to average 213c.
Heavy heifers sold to 300c to average 231c, heifers 300-400kg sold to 304c to average 256c, those in the 200-300kg range made 328c to average 284c, while heifers under 200kg sold to 352c to average 318c.
Bulls over 600kg topped 249c to average 226c, with those under 450kg making 328c to average 276c.
