Young killer bullocks were slightly improved on last week’s rates, however most other categories eased overall at the May 12 Gracemere sale.

Combined agents yarded a reduced yarding of 1976 head on May 12 at Gracemere comprising of 1045 steers, 587 heifers, 285 cows, 25 cows and calves and 34 bulls.

Young killer bullocks were slightly improved on last week’s rates, however most other categories eased overall.   

Quality was quite good throughout however the absence of a couple of regular buyers kept prices in check. 

Slaughter steers made 295.1c/kg to average 276.2c; steers 400-500kg topped 314.2c to average 286.7c, steers 300-400kg sold to 370.2c to average 310.7c and those in the  200-300kg range made 390.2c to average 352.1c.

Meanwhile weaner steers under 200kg topped 400.2c to average 364c.

Slaughter cows topped 255.2c to average 214.9c, cows 400-450kg sold to 238.2c to average 199.9c, cows 320-400kg made 198.2c to average 196.9c, while those under 320kg topped 244.2c to average 163.3c.

Heavy heifers made 378.2c to average 256.3c, heifers 300-400kg topped 342.3c to average 255.6c, those in the 200-300kg range sold to 320.2c to average 278.4c.

Meanwhile weaner heifers under 200kg made 320.2c to average 287.2c.

Cows and calves sold to $1700 to average $1415.

Bulls over 600kg made 268.2c to average 247.7c, bulls 450kg-600kg sold to 272.2c to average 268.2c, while those under 450kg made 268.2c to average 247.3c.

C J Mahon, Bauhinia, sold young Brahman cross ox to top at 288c weighing 576kg to return $1661.

AW and VA Gabel, Wowan, sold Brahman cows to top at 225c for a weight of 603kg to return $1358.

Berry Family, Glendale, sold Charbray weaner steers to top at 370c weighing 196kg to return $725.

David Parson and Family, sold Charbray No.6 heifers to top at 280c weighing 400kg  to return $1120.

J and Y Galea, Sarina, sold No.6 Simbrah steers for 350c weighing 350kg to return $1220.

Woorabinda Past Co, Duaringa, sold Droughtmaster cross steers to top at 330c weighing 470kg to return $1412.

Frank Ellrott, Tungamull, sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for 382c to weigh 275kg to return $1051.

Amberkolly Grazing, Collinsville, sold Brahman cross cows and calves for $1600/unit.
