POWER Equipment has been appointed as a new distributor for John Deere industrial and marine engines in both Australia and New Zealand as well as PNG, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands and French Polynesia. 

John Deere Power Systems is a major manufacturing division for Deere and Company with an outstanding reputation for reliable and fuel efficient engines designed to meet the needs of the agricultural, marine, forestry, construction and many OEM customers around the world.

The appointment is effective from July 1.

John Deere has a network of more than 4000 dealerships providing sales advice, aftermarket support and parts backup.

Power Equipment’s inclusion in the global John Deere Power Systems ‘family’ represents was described as an exciting chapter in the history of John Deere Power Systems in Australia and New Zealand, through an expanded dealer network and their dedicated commitment and focus on the engine power sector.

Power Equipment is a family owned business which was established in October 1990 to be the exclusive Australian distributor of Yanmar marine and industrial diesel engines. Power Equipment’s Yanmar territory has been increased to include New Zealand, PNG and the South Pacific. Power Equipment also distributes PSS Shaft Seals, Mase and Northern Lights Marine Generators, Gori Propellers, Torqeedo electric outboard motors, and the forthcoming Oxe diesel outboard motor.

Power Equipment typically sells about 6000 marine and industrial diesel engines a year, ranging from 5 to 1800hp. The company employs about 85 people, with many staff being lifelong career “engine people”. Power Equipment’s growth has led to the formation and development of branches throughout Australia and New Zealand. The Australian head office is located in Melbourne, with branch offices in Sydney, Newcastle, the Gold Coast and Fremantle. 

Over a period spanning 27 years, Power Equipment has achieved an excellent reputation as a high quality supplier of engines and associated products, through an extensive dealer and branch network, and it has a very mature state of the art infrastructure which has been created by continuous reinvestment by the founders.

John Deere dealers will continue to support John Deere Power Systems with the added expertise, knowledge and support that Power Equipment brings to the Australian and New Zealand marketplace.
