Cairns will host the 14th National Rural Health Conference on 26 and 29 April.
Regarded as the pre-eminent event bringing together people from across the rural and remote health sector, the conference is attracting strong interest.
More than 1000 delegates are expected to attend, to listen to 220 concurrent speakers, 49 concurrent sessions and 28 keynote speakers.
The conference will showcase the services and products of 65 exhibitors.
Principal conference sponsor, the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia, is looking forward to being involved.
“The National Rural Health Conference is an opportunity for all in the rural health sector to come together in the interests of better health outcomes, and for health practitioners to refine and improve their skills on a continuing basis,” said Martin Laverty, RFDS chief executive officer.
“It is an opportunity for people to collaborate and share ideas in real time, in an extraordinary, energised environment on how to improve health service access in rural and remote Australia.

Aside from offering an opportunity for networking, a set of agreed proposals will be presented to the Assistant Federal Minister for Health David Gillespie.
The proposals will come from the Sharing Shed, a user-friendly, online portal that will allow delegates to directly input their own ideas and recommendations on how to improve health and wellbeing in rural and remote areas.
National Rural Health Alliance chief executive David Butt said the Sharing Shed was a valuable tool to help set the rural health agenda in Australia.
