The Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC), the peak body representing retailers, processors, exporters and smallgoods manufacturers in the post-farm-gate meat industry, has announced it’s searching for a new chief executive officer.
Chair of the AMIC board Lachie Hart said the new business strategy plan focused on meeting the changing needs of members through increased collaboration and communication, new and improved service delivery, plus a key focus on government and stakeholder engagement.
“We are committed to building an organisation for our members that is stronger than ever – one that is innovative and able to thrive in even the most challenging of circumstances,” Mr Hart said.
“We recognise that the needs of our members have changed, and we need to change as well to ensure our industry is in the best possible position to succeed for future generations to come.
“As part of this, we want to ensure AMIC has a seat at the table and is well positioned to influence and guide debate on important issues, to benefit our members and support the industry.”
The strategic change in direction was prompted by the retirement of AMIC CEO Kevin Cottrill.
“I have been fortunate to have had a long and rewarding career within the meat industry and I believe there is an exciting future ahead for AMIC,” Mr Cottrill said.
“There is an incredible team of people behind the scenes, who will drive the organisation in its new direction.”
Mr Hart thanked Mr Cottrill for his long and loyal service and said he was thrilled Kevin had agreed to continue in his role at AMIC until the recruitment process for a new CEO through Rimfire Resources was completed.
“Kevin has been an invaluable member of our leadership team and has made a significant contribution to the Australian meat industry,” Mr Hart said.
“We are pleased that Kevin will continue to support our members’ interests, through his various directorships into his retirement.”
As part of the company refresh, the organisation is undergoing a restructure of the leadership team.
In addition to the search for a new CEO, AMIC is now also recruiting for the newly-created role of General Manager of Retail and Smallgoods.
“We have spoken to all of our staff. They are enthusiastic about what lies ahead and the opportunities that we will be able to harness, together,” Mr Hart said.
AMIC said it’s the peak industry council that represents retailers, processors and smallgoods manufacturers and is the only industry association representing the post-farm-gate Australian meat industry.
